Abstract. During the academic year period from 2014 to 2016 we studied physiological state of the central nervous system (CNS) of 1st and 2nd year students of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosova: girls (n = 72) and boys (n = 48). The average age of the students was 19.96 ± 0.23 years old. For study of physiological features of the CNS condition and evaluation of the mobility of nervous processes, we determined a simple visual-motor reaction (SVMR) using hardware-software complex «NS-Psychotest». The study revealed a decrease in the functional state of the central nervous system at almost 50 % of the students studying in the North conditions, development of fatigue processes in the nervous system and a slight decrease in performance, which correlates with a high level of personal anxiety and low emotional stability of the students.

Key words: neuroticism, anxiety, students, functional state, central nervous system, visual-motor reactions, adaptation.
